The TeSN “Leo4Health” National Awareness Theme is a project aimed at the public to make the population understand the importance of vaccinations.
The main objective is to explain what vaccines are and why individuals and society can benefit from them, debunking some of the most widespread myths, that are supported by people with good media skills but few scientific foundations.
Vaccines are a fundamental weapon of prevention to protect the health of individuals and that of the entire community: with a simple gesture, in addition to protecting ourselves from fearful but avoidable diseases, we also protect those who can not get vaccinated, for example because they are seriously ill.
The national awareness campaign will consist of lectures given by doctors trained on the subject of vaccinations, addressed to secondary school students (preferably IV and V year) and university students: texts and materials have been studied to actively involve young people during meetings, so that they can develop their convictions on the basis of correct and scientifically established information.
There is also the possibility for students to participate in the competition “Vaccinarsi, perché?”, with the aim of seeking, among young people, the most effective idea to convince their peers to get vaccinated.
The Leos will have the important task of bringing the students, their families and citizens closer to correct and scientifically proven information, which unfortunately too often is perceived as unattainable or questionable, creating opportunities for meeting and confrontation and thus putting itself at the service of the community.
